Help support Blade, our scent-specific trailing K9!
Why an Ogar Polski? Why this dog?
The Polish Hound is a hard working dedicated scent detection dog. Its body is smaller than the average Bloodhound and its life expectancy is almost twice as long.
Blade is two years old and was trained and certified at the Georgia K9 Training Center. He shows great promise as a Scent-Specific K9. The Georgia K9 Training Center researches blood lines, checks the sire and dam of the litters for health issues and extensively tests each puppy before considering importing the dogs for K9 work in the US.

Who handles Blade?
Blade lives with Janet Winslow, his handler, trainer and Search and Rescue partner. She has served over 34 years in Law Enforcement in our Community. Recently she was awarded two prestigious awards: 2015 Woman of Distinction from the YWCA and 2016 Indiana DARE Officer of the year.
In 2009 Janet began developing her passion of training and handling search and rescue dogs. Janet, and her Human Remains Detection dog Ellie, assisted in locating a missing person in Tippecanoe County and assisted The Indiana Department of Homeland Security with a cold case in Northern Indiana. |
What does Blade do for our community?
Greater Lafayette has excellent Law Enforcement K9s. They have proven themselves to be great assets to our community from checking sporting events for possible bombs, detecting drugs, to tracking and apprehending fleeing felons. Blade complements these K9 skills. As a Scent-Specific Trailing K9, he assists in searches for missing children and adults who are not able to find their way home due to age, health or other medical issues. Blade will also be trained in Human Remains Detection.
